NEW LIFE FOSTERING PRIVACY STATEMENT
This Charter was drafted by a young person (Millie Towning – Work Experience Student), in consultation with children and young people attending a Children’s Forum at New Life Fostering. The child and young persons Charter of Rights represents what is to be expected from New Life Fostering staff and foster carers. We agree to work in partnership for the best interest of children and young people in our care.
What can children/young people expect from New Life foster carers?
- At New Life we believe that every child should be respected as an individual and be supported in meeting their needs and achieving their aspirations and full potential.
- Foster Carers need to care for a child in a non-discriminatory manner that recognises and respects their identity, ethnicity, gender, religion and family background.
- Foster Carers to develop a meaningful relationship with the child and will support their growth and development and advocate for them when required.
- A child should be treated and protected as you would your own child.
- The child should be able to make decisions regarding their own lives with the support of their foster carer, in line with their understanding and ability.
- Inform the child and support them to access services and resources available to them, this includes extra-curricular activities, advocacy services, support groups and how to complain.
What can Children/Young People expect from staff at New Life Fostering?
- New Life staff aim to provide stable, safe, positive homes for children and young people where they are supported and encouraged to grow and develop as individuals.
- Staff will ensure New Life Foster Carers are supported and trained fully to enable them to provide a high standard of care within their homes.
- Staff will act in the best interest of the child and do all they can to support and advise to ensure each child is supported to stay healthy with a focus on physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.
- Staff will help a child to gain access and encourage a child to make the best use of services and resources available to them.
- If in their best interest, a child can expect to be supported to stay in contact with people that are important to them.
- Staff will listen to a child’s views, wishes and opinions and act on these, including supporting them to complain.
- Staff will encourage children in all aspects of their development and support them to achieve their full potential.
